Both candidates for Island County, Wash., Public Hospital District 1 complete Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey

Both candidates running for the Island County Public Hospital District 1 on Whidbey Island, Wash., commissioner board—Kirk Gasper and Dennis Rochier—completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

All survey respondents are asked to tell voters about the areas of public policy they are most passionate about. In Island County, both candidates listed quality of care as one of those key points. Excerpts are shown below.

Gasper:

“I am most passionate about quality and efficiency in healthcare. Quality matters because every patient deserves to know they’re getting care that meets or exceeds national standards, right here at home. Trust in local healthcare isn’t just important—it’s essential.”

Rochier:

“Public institutions such as WhidbeyHealth will not survive without a focus on quality and efficiency. Eliminating waste is the best way to improve efficiency and deliver the highest quality of care. Developing and supporting evidence-based policies and procedures is key to success.”
