Pia Dandiya (D) and Casey Askar (R) are running in the general election for Florida's 22nd Congressional District on November 3, 2026.
Florida redrew its maps ahead of the elections. NBC 6's Gray Rohrer and Ana Goñi-Lessan wrote, "In terms of territory, this district was one of the areas that changed the most in the DeSantis redrawing ... The seat is occupied by U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, D-West Palm Beach, but shifts from one that was Democratic-leaning to more of a toss-up district." Frankel (D) is seeking re-election in the 23rd District, meaning the 22nd District has no incumbent.
In 2024, Donald Trump (R) won the district under its current lines over Kamala Harris (D), 55% to 44%. The district voted for Joe Biden (D) 51% to 48% in 2020. Both the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee have this seat on their target lists.
Dandiya is a school principal and former teacher. She is campaigning on reducing the cost of living. Her campaign website says, "Bringing down the cost of living will be my first priority. We'll take on the housing and insurance prices that hit South Florida hardest, lower the cost of prescription drugs, childcare, and healthcare, and crack down on the price-gouging and hidden fees that drain a family's paycheck." Dandiya is also campaigning on passing government reforms, and her campaign website says, "I'll fight to ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks, close the revolving door and fight the corrosive influence of lobbyists. This is a people-powered campaign, and the people of this district are the ones I'll listen to in Congress."
Askar is a businessman and a former Marine. He is campaigning on reducing the cost of living. His campaign website says, "Tackling the rising cost of eggs, milk, and gas is hist (sic) top priority. In Congress, Casey will work with leadership to help slash overburdening taxes and regulations that are adding to the affordability crisis." Askar is also campaigning on healthcare reform. His campaign website said he wanted to "[E]nd Obamacare once and for all, and replace it with a vehicle that works for all Americans. By cracking down on government waste and fraud, we will be able to preserve Medicaid and Medicare for generations to come."
