All 60 seats in the Arizona House of Representatives were up for election on November 3, 2026.
Following the election, Democrats gained a majority.
Heading into the election, Republicans had a 33-27 majority in the House. This means Democrats needed to win at least four seats to gain a majority, and Republicans could not lose more than two seats.
This election took place alongside elections for the Senate and governor. At the time of the election, Arizona had a divided government, as Governor Katie Hobbs was a Democrat, and Republicans controlled both chambers of the legislature. Because Democrats won the gubernatorial election and gained majorities in both the House and the Senate, they gained a trifecta in Arizona for the first time since 1966. If Republicans had maintained their majority in the House, Democrats would not have won a trifecta.
Both the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) and the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) targeted the Arizona Legislature in the 2026 general elections. According to Ballotpedia's analysis, Arizona was one of 30 states where both parties were targeting the state legislature.
The DLCC and RSLC each targeted seven districts. Among the seven districts the DLCC targeted, there were six Republican incumbents and four Democratic incumbents. Among the seven districts the RSLC targeted, there were seven Republican incumbents and three Democratic incumbents.
Ballotpedia identified eight battlegrounds. These included districts where the margin of victory in 2024 was within five points, where a district was open and within five percentage points in 2024, where a national organization was targeting, or where a district featured a notable challenger. Thirteen incumbents across those districts are running for re-election. One seat in District 9 and both seats in District 13 are open.
The Arizona House of Representatives was one of 88 state legislative chambers with elections in 2026. All 30 Arizona Senate seats were also up for election. There are 99 chambers throughout the country.
