Both candidates for Edmonds, Wash., City Council complete Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey

Both candidates running for Position 3 on the Edmonds, Wash., City Council—Erika Barnett and Alex Newman—completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

All survey respondents are asked to tell voters about their three key campaign messages. In Edmonds, both candidates listed public safety as one of those key points. Excerpts are shown below.

Barnett:

“Every resident deserves to feel safe at home, in our parks, and on our streets. I will support our police and first responders while also working to improve emergency response coordination, neighborhood walkability, and community engagement.”

Newman:

“Everyone deserves to feel safe. I support our first responders and also believe in community-based approaches that address the root causes of violence. I’ll advocate for stronger emergency preparedness, school safety, and violence prevention programs that protect all Edmonds residents.”
