Both candidates running in the Republican primary for Lake County Commissioner Board District 4 in Florida—Leslie Campione and David Williamson—completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

All survey respondents are asked to tell voters about their three key campaign messages. In Lake County, both candidates listed defined their stances on development as one of those key points. Excerpts are shown below.

Campione:

I stand up for Lake County taxpayers and residents, and fight against irresponsible growth and overdevelopment, and I fight for the protection of our waterways and our aquifer. I believe it is important for lands that are designated as rural to remain rural and be available for farmland, rural lifestyles and open spaces.

Williamson:

Growth should never come at the expense of our communities. I will stand against unnecessary rezoning and irresponsible overdevelopment while supporting smart planning that protects rural Lake County, respects property owners, and ensures infrastructure keeps pace with growth.
