Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee holds confirmation hearing for Russell Vought for director of the Office of Management and Budget

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee held a confirmation hearing for Russell Vought for director of the Office of Management and Budget on Jan. 15, 2025. At the time the hearing ended, the committee had not yet scheduled a meeting to vote on Vought’s nomination. Vought must receive a majority approval vote in the committee before his nomination can be put up for a confirmation vote before the full Senate. Vought will also need to appear for a hearing and receive an approval vote from the Senate Budget Committee, neither of which have been scheduled.

Trump nominated Vought on Nov. 22, 2024. Trump said of Vought’s nomination, “He did an excellent job serving in this role in my First Term – We cut four Regulations for every new Regulation, and it was a Great Success!”

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is chaired by Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) is the ranking Democratic member. To watch the full hearing, click here.
