The Senate Judiciary Committee held confirmation hearings for Pam Bondi for attorney general on Jan. 16 and 15, 2025. At the time the hearing ended, the committee had not yet scheduled a meeting to vote on Bondi’s nomination. Bondi must receive a majority approval vote in the committee before her nomination can be put up for a confirmation vote before the full Senate.
President Donald Trump (R) nominated Bondi on Nov. 21, 2024. Trump said of Bondi’s nomination, “For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans – Not anymore. Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again. I have known Pam for many years — She is smart and tough, and is an AMERICA FIRST Fighter, who will do a terrific job as Attorney General!”
The Senate Judiciary Committee is chaired by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) is the ranking Democratic member. To watch the full hearing, click here.
