The Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee held a confirmation hearing for Doug Collins for secretary of veterans affairs on Jan. 21, 2025. The committee scheduled a meeting for Jan. 23 to vote on Collins’ nomination. Collins must receive a majority approval vote in the committee before his nomination can be put up for a confirmation vote before the full Senate.
President Donald Trump (R) nominated Collins on Nov. 14, 2024. Trump said of Collins’ nomination, “We must take care of our brave men and women in uniform, and Doug will be a great advocate for our Active Duty Servicemembers, Veterans, and Military Families to ensure they have the support they need.”
The Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee is chaired by Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) is the ranking Democratic member. To watch the full hearing, click here.
