The Senate Budget Committee held a confirmation hearing for Russell Vought for director of the Office of Management and Budget on Jan. 22, 2025. At the time the hearing ended, the committee had not scheduled a meeting to vote on his nomination. Vought must receive a majority approval vote in the committee before his nomination can be put up for a confirmation vote before the full Senate.
President Donald Trump (R) nominated Vought on Nov. 22, 2024. Trump said of Vought’s nomination, “He did an excellent job serving in this role in my First Term – We cut four Regulations for every new Regulation, and it was a Great Success!”
The Senate Budget Committee is chaired by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) is the ranking Democratic member. To watch the full hearing, click here.
