The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee held a confirmation hearing for Kelly Loeffler for administrator of the Small Business Administration on Jan. 29, 2025. At the time the hearing ended, the committee had not scheduled a meeting to vote on her nomination. Leoffler must receive a majority approval vote in the committee before her nomination can be put up for a confirmation vote before the full Senate.
President Donald Trump (R) nominated Loeffler on Dec. 4, 2024. Trump said of Loeffler’s nomination, “Small Businesses are the backbone of our Great Economy. Kelly will bring her experience in business and Washington to reduce red tape, and unleash opportunity for our Small Businesses to grow, innovate, and thrive. She will focus on ensuring that SBA is accountable to Taxpayers by cracking down on waste, fraud, and regulatory overreach.”
The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee is chaired by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) is the ranking Democratic member. To watch the full hearing, click here.
