All candidates running in the primary for District 5 of the Olympic School District—Gilbert Lamont, Emily Leddige, and Jeremy Ruse—completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.
All school board survey respondents are asked to tell voters what they believe constitutes “good teaching.” Excerpts from all three Olympia candidate surveys are shown below.
Lamont:
“Good teaching is student-centered, engaging, and responsive to the diverse needs of all learners.”
Leddige:
“Good teaching goes beyond simply delivering content—it’s about connecting with students, understanding their unique needs, and inspiring a love of learning.”
Ruse:
“Giving teachers flexibility to establish and implement/manage their lesson plan is important, there should be core goals for classes/individuals, teachers understand better than most what is in the best interest of their students.”
