President Donald Trump (R) ends August with 44% approval, same as July


At the end of August, approval polling averages showed President Donald Trump (R) at 44% approval. Fifty-three percent of voters disapproved of his performance. This is the lowest approval rating he’s received during his presidency. He first received this approval rating in April. The highest approval rating Trump has received is 54%, last seen on Jan. 22, 2025.

At the end of August, congressional approval was at 29% and disapproval was at 56%. The lowest approval rating the 119th Congress has received is 19%, last seen on Jan. 29, 2025. The highest approval rating it has received is 37%, last seen on July 1, 2025.

At this time during Trump’s first term in office, presidential approval was six points lower at 38%, and congressional approval was fifteen points lower at 14%. At this point during the Biden administration, presidential approval was four points higher at 48%, and congressional approval was ten points lower at 19%.
