Elections for the Arizona State Senate will take place in 2026. The general election is on November 3, 2026.

Arizona Public Media's Nick Rommel wrote, "While Republicans’ advantage in the Senate has remained fairly constant for the last decade, Democrats have chipped away at their majority in the House. Republicans clawed back a slightly larger margin in 2024’s high-turnout election."

As a result of the 2024 elections, Republicans gained two seats, giving them a 17-13 majority. Republicans have controlled the Senate since 1991, though the Senate was tied after the 2000 elections. Democrats have won more seats in recent elections. They held 14 seats after the 2020 and 2022 elections, the most since 1998.

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee has targeted five districts, and its website says, "Arizona is home to some of the nation’s most extreme MAGA Republicans who have focused on undermining our democracy and chasing conspiracy theories rather than addressing the issues facing Arizonans. We have an opportunity to let Democrats drive the state’s agenda for the first time since the Civil Rights era by electing legislators who believe that government should help, not harm, the people it represents."

The Republican State Leadership Committee considers the chamber to be one of its top defensive battlegrounds and writes, "Democrats continue to signal a willingness to pour money into Arizona in hopes of flipping both chambers of the Arizona Statehouse. But, as in previous cycles, Democrats will be unsuccessful in their attempts. Arizonans know that State Republicans are the commonsense candidates on the ballot and will continue to fight for their best interests in Phoenix."

This election is happening alongside elections for the House and governor. Arizona currently has a divided government, as Governor Katie Hobbs is a Democrat, and Republicans control both chambers of the legislature. If Democrats were to win all three, it would be the first Democratic trifecta since 1966. If Republicans won all three, it would be the first Republican trifecta since 2023.

Ballotpedia has identified six battlegrounds. These included districts where the margin of victory in 2024 was within five points, where a district was open and within five percentage points in 2024, where a national organization is targeting, or where a district featured a notable challenger.
