Hines was a former prosecutor and law professor. Hines' campaign website said, "I know how hard it is to get by - paying for groceries, healthcare, childcare and more - and how important it is that we protect our children and honor our seniors. I refuse to stand idly by while billionaires leave working families like ours in the lurch. I am a Mom on a Mission fighting to lower costs, protect families, and defend our democracy."
Bouchard was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Iraq and at the U.S.-Mexico border. Bouchard's campaign website said, "Now, after nearly a decade in uniform, Mike is stepping up to fight for the communities that built him. Grounded in faith, family, and country, Captain Mike Bouchard represents a new generation of leadership — one that still believes in duty, honor, and discipline."
Minor party, independent, and write-in candidates included Kwabena Nkromo (G), Mike Saliba (L), and Andrea Kirby (Working Class Party).
As of November 2, 2026, Hines had raised $4.16 million and Bouchard had raised $2.88 million.
The outcome of this race affected the partisan balance of the U.S. House of Representatives in the 120th Congress. All 435 U.S. House districts were up for election.
