Elections for all 180 seats in the Georgia House of Representatives were held on November 3, 2026.

Democrats gained a majority in the 2026 election. This was the first time since 2004 that Democrats had a majority in the Georgia House.

Heading into the election, Republicans held a 99–81 majority. Republicans needed to gain at least 21 seats in addition to the 99 they already held in order to win a veto-proof majority. Democrats needed to gain at least 10 seats in addition to the 81 they already held in order to win a majority.

Republicans won a 100–80 majority in 2024 and a 98–79 majority in 2022. Georgia adopted new state legislative district boundaries between the 2022 and 2024 elections. Republicans last won a veto-proof majority in 2014.

Ninety-one of 99 incumbent Republicans and 69 of 81 incumbent Democrats ran for re-election. Republicans ran in 140 districts and Democrats ran in 159 districts. Five Republican incumbents and one Democratic incumbent ran for re-election in a district where the other party's candidate placed first in the 2024 presidential election.

Ballotpedia identified 23 of the 180 districts as battlegrounds based on a history of recent competitive elections. Sixteen of the battleground districts had a Republican incumbent and seven had a Democratic incumbent. Of the 16 battleground districts with a Republican incumbent, Democratic candidates won nine, Republican candidates won five, one advanced to a runoff, and one was too close to call as of November 6, 2026. Of the seven battleground districts with a Democratic incumbent, Democratic candidates won five and Republican candidates won two.

The Georgia House elections had the potential to change the state's trifecta status. Heading into the election, Republicans had a trifecta in Georgia because Gov. Brian Kemp was a Republican and Republicans had majorities in both chambers of the General Assembly. Because Democrats won the election for governor and gained a majority in the House, Republicans lost their trifecta in Georgia. Because Republicans maintained their majority in the state Senate, Democrats did not gain a trifecta in Georgia.

The Georgia House of Representatives was one of 88 state legislative chambers with elections in 2026. There are 99 chambers throughout the country.
