The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee held a confirmation hearing for Sean Duffy for secretary of transportation on Jan. 15, 2025. At the time the hearing ended, the committee had not yet scheduled a meeting to vote on Duffy’s nomination. Duffy must receive a majority approval vote in the committee before his nomination can be put up for a confirmation vote before the full Senate.
Trump nominated Duffy on Nov. 18, 2024. Trump said of Duffy’s nomination, “Sean will use his experience and the relationships he has built over many years in Congress to maintain and rebuild our Nation’s Infrastructure, and fulfill our Mission of ushering in The Golden Age of Travel, focusing on Safety, Efficiency, and Innovation.”
The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee is chaired by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wa.) is the ranking Democratic member. To watch the full hearing, click here.
