All candidates for port commission in Port of Skagit, Wash. complete Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey

All candidates running in the special primary for Skagit Port Commission District 2 —Keith Chaplin, Melanie Mankamyer, and Edwin Stickle—completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

All survey respondents are asked to tell voters what areas of public policy they are most passionate about. Excerpts from the responses from all three candidates are shown below:

Chaplin:

“Sound fiscal responsibility, planning, especially for safer communities. Parks and recreation, economic development.”

Mankamyer:

“I am passionate about long term planning for all of the Port facilities. Looking ahead, I’m focused on: growing our business centers, revitalizing the La Conner Marina, and expanding broadband access to our rural communities.”

Stickle:

“Aviation technology and training. I support the port partnering with Skagit Valley College to build a training center on campus to supply training for airplane mechanics, badly needed to replace retiring aviation industry veterans.”
