Three statewide candidate filing deadlines in the next two weeks


With Delaware holding the final 2026 statewide primary on Sept. 15, this year’s remaining candidate and voter deadlines are for the Nov. 3 general election. Three states have statewide write-in candidate filing deadlines in the next two weeks.

The map and bulleted list below show which states have candidate filing deadlines scheduled between Sept. 12 and Sept. 25.

  • Delaware: Sept. 21 (statewide write-in candidate filing deadline)
  • Tennessee: Sept. 14 (statewide write-in candidate filing deadline)
  • West Virginia: Sept. 15 (statewide write-in candidate filing deadline)

There is one statewide election taking place in the next two weeks:

  • Delaware: Sept. 15 statewide primary election

Five states have early voting periods that start in the next two weeks:

  • Illinois: Early voting begins Sept. 24 for the Nov. 3 general election.
  • Minnesota: Early voting begins Sept. 18 for the Nov. 3 general election.
  • South Dakota: Early voting begins Sept. 18 for the Nov. 3 general election.
  • Vermont: Early voting begins Sept. 19 for the Nov. 3 general election.
  • Virginia: Early voting begins Sept. 18 for the Nov. 3 general election.
