Results in the five most expensive Democratic Minnesota House primaries


Democratic primary elections for all 134 districts in the Minnesota House of Representatives took place on Aug. 9, 2022. Of the 134 districts up for election in 2022, 15 had a Democratic primary election with more than one candidate.

Across all contested Democratic primary elections, candidates raised $362,837. Incumbents raised an average of $22,078 per candidate and challengers raised an average of $8,332 per candidate.

Five primary elections with the most fundraising

The table below details the five Democratic primary elections with the most fundraising in the House of Representatives. Winning candidates’ names are in bold.

#1 District 8B – $67,802

Arik Forsman raised $43,005 and Alicia Kozlowski raised $24,797.

Alicia Kozlowski advanced to the general election with 56 percent of the vote and Arik Forsman received 44 percent of the vote.

#2 District 52A – $55,503

Incumbent Sandra Masin raised $7,700 and Incumbent Liz Reyer raised $47,803.

Liz Reyer advanced to the general election with 61 percent of the vote and Sandra Masin received 39 percent of the vote.

#3 District 50B – $49,656

Incumbent Andrew Carlson raised $23,127 and Incumbent Steve Elkins raised $26,529.

Steve Elkins advanced to the general election with 59 percent of the vote and Andrew Carlson received 41 percent of the vote.

#4 District 33B – $47,438

Josiah Hill raised $44,816 and Joe Widmer raised $2,622.

Josiah Hill advanced to the general election with 100 percent of the vote and Joe Widmer withdrew.

#5 District 62A – $44,993

Incumbent Aisha Gomez raised $37,178 and Osman Ahmed raised $7,815.

Aisha Gomez advanced to the general election with 69 percent of the vote and Osman Ahmed received 31 percent of the vote.
