All candidates for Indiana House of Representatives District 25 complete Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey

Both of the candidates running in the November 8, 2022, general election for Indiana House of Representatives District 25 — Jen Bass-Patino (D) and Becky Cash (R) — completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

Eighty-eight of the country’s 99 state legislative chambers will hold regularly scheduled elections in 2022. The Republican Party controls both chambers of Indiana’s state legislature. Indiana is one of 23 states with a Republican trifecta.

Here are excerpts from candidates’ responses to the question: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Bass-Patino:

“I feel strongly that we must ensure that all Hoosiers have the basic necessities in order to lead healthy lives in our communities and which provide opportunities for continued prosperity and improvement. These include clean air, water and land not polluted by toxic chemicals. We must all have access to quality education and training programs so that our citizens can support themselves and their families well into the future. Public schools are vital to our students’ futures.”

Cash:

“My top priority is securing the rights of parents to make personal, medical, religious and educational decisions for their children. In addition, the right of each individual to make the medical decisions that are best for themselves; without risk of personal injury or violation of religious freedom is something that we must secure in the Indiana law. Finally, we must pursue additional legislation that will secure the rights of the unborn.”
