All candidates for North Carolina State Senate District 25 complete Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey

Both of the candidates running in the November 8, 2022, general election for North Carolina State Senate District 25 — incumbent Amy Galey (R) and Sean Ewing (D) — completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

Eighty-eight of the country’s 99 state legislative chambers will hold regularly scheduled elections in 2022. The Republican Party controls both chambers of North Carolina’s state legislature. North Carolina is one of 13 states with a divided government.

Here are excerpts from candidates’ responses to the question: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Galey:

“I am passionate about workforce development, connecting all the dots between quality education, good jobs, and healthy families. I supported the Medicaid expansion bill that was proposed in the Senate this year (2021) because it increased access and addressed rising costs. The bill included desperately needed certificate of need (CON) reform and scope of practice reform, allowed for telehealth, and increased transparency.”

Ewing:

“Investing in clean energy and expanding rural broadband are two areas of public policy the campaign is laser focused on. North Carolina is poised to be a leader in providing clean energy and low-cost hybrid and electric transportation. During these inflationary times, we have an incredible opportunity to bring so many good paying jobs to upgrade and prepare our infrastructure.”
