Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey: Indiana roundup


Indiana is holding elections, including for city council and mayoral offices, on Nov. 7, 2023. A number of candidates running in these elections completed Ballotpedia’s Candidate Connection survey. These survey responses allow voters to hear directly from candidates about what motivates them to run for office.

Below is a selection of responses from the candidates who filled out the survey as of Oct. 17. To read each candidate’s full responses, click his or her name at the bottom of the article.

Stephanie Crandall (D) is running for Fort Wayne City Council At-large, and the general election is on Nov. 7. Here’s how Crandall responded to the question: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

“My passion is local government and how it ties into all areas of public policy. In my current role, I work on issues related to workforce, infrastructure, neighborhoods, climate, immigration, transportation, federal funding, and much more. I’m working hard to make sure that every person in Fort Wayne also has the ability to pursue their passions to strengthen our city. I also try to educate my neighbors about the role government can have in addressing and convening people to tackle complex community challenges.”

Audrey Davis (D) is running for Fort Wayne City Council At-large, and the general election is on Nov. 7. Here’s how Davis responded to the question: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

“Equitable access to housing, food, health and De-Incarcerating Allen County and Indiana.”

Thomas Didier (R), currently serving as a member of the Fort Wayne City Council representing District 3, is running for mayor of Fort Wayne, and the general election is on Nov. 7. Here’s how Didier responded to the question: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

“I am passionate about connecting with people and solving problems. It is what I did as a salesman for over three decades and is my favorite part of my job on city council. As mayor I want to take that to the next level by enhancing communication and coordination between the city and its residents as well as with other governmental entities we need to work with to improve Fort Wayne.”

“Health of our community, not just absence of disease or access to sick care. How are we supporting a workforce that will attract businesses to the city.

Public and private partnerships for regional growth.

Collaboration between city, county and region. We are not an island. As a city we are part of an economic community that exceeds the city limits.”

Christopher Moore (R) is running for Indianapolis City Council District 9, and the general election is on Nov. 7. Here’s how Moore responded to the question: What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

“I want us to apply the resources to our police, help the homelessness and raise the quality of life within our city on all levels and most of all be transparent.”
