Five candidates filed to appear on Illinois’ Republican presidential primary ballot


The filing deadline for the Illinois Republican presidential primary passed on Jan. 5, 2024. Five candidates filed to appear on the March 19, 2024, ballot. In order to file, candidates had to submit a petition containing 3,000 signatures. 

The following candidates filed:

  • Ryan Binkley
  • Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie
  • Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
  • Former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley
  • Former President Donald Trump 

Binkley, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Christie, DeSantis, Haley, Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, Vivek Ramaswamy, David Stuckenberg, and Trump have all filed to participate in five or more nominating contests.
