Five candidates filed to appear on Ohio’s Republican presidential primary ballot


The filing deadline for the Ohio Republican presidential primary passed on Dec. 20, 2023, and the ballot was certified on Jan. 9, 2024. Five candidates filed to appear on the March 19, 2024, ballot. In order to file, candidates had to submit a petition containing 50 signatures per delegate and 1,000 signatures per at-large delegate. 

The following candidates filed:

  • Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie
  • Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
  • Former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley
  • Vivek Ramaswamy
  • Former President Donald Trump 

Ryan Binkley, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Christie, DeSantis, Haley, Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, Ramaswamy, David Stuckenberg, and Trump have all filed to participate in five or more nominating contests. The next Republican presidential primary filing deadline will take place on January 11, 2024, in Rhode Island.
