There is one more candidate on New Mexico’s presidential ballot compared to 2020. In 2020, New Mexico’s ballot had six candidates: Joe Biden (D), Donald Trump (R), Jo Jorgensen (L), Howie Hawkins (G), and two other minor party candidates. Biden won New Mexico that year with 54.3% of the vote, followed by Trump with 43.5%, Jorgensen with 1.4%, and Hawkins with 0.5%. No other candidate received more than 0.2% of the vote.
As of Oct. 28, The Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated the state as likely Democratic and Inside Elections rated the state as solid Democratic. New Mexico has favored Democrats in every presidential election between 2000 and 2020, except in 2004 when Republicans won the state.
New Mexico has five electoral votes, tied with Nebraska for the states with the 3rd fewest electoral votes. New Mexico neither gained nor lost electoral votes following the 2020 census.
New Mexico’s general election ballot will also feature eight ballot measures and elections for the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, and other state executive offices, among others.
