Massachusetts’ Nov. 5, 2024, general election ballot will feature six presidential candidates and their running mates. They are:
- Kamala Harris / Tim Walz (D)
- Donald Trump / J.D. Vance (R)
- Jill Stein / Gloria Caballero-Roca (G)
- Chase Oliver / Mike ter Maat (L)
- Claudia De La Cruz / Karina Garcia (Party for Socialism and Liberation)
- Shiva Ayyadurai / Crystal Ellis (Independent)
Jill Stein’s running mate is Butch Ware, but she filed to appear on Massachusetts’ ballot before selecting Ware, so she will appear on Massachusetts’ ballot with Caballero-Roca instead.
This is the same number of candidates that appeared on Massachusetts’ presidential ballot in 2008, and two fewer candidates than in the three elections between 2012 and 2020. In 2020, Massachusetts’ ballot had four candidates: Joe Biden (D), Trump, Jo Jorgensen (L), and Howie Hawkins (G). Biden won Massachusetts that year with 65.6% of the vote, followed by Trump with 32.1%, Jorgensen with 1.3%, and Hawkins with 0.5%.
As of Oct. 25, The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball all rated the state as solid Democratic. No Republican presidential candidate has carried Massachusetts since 1956.
Massachusetts has 11 electoral votes, tied with Arizona, Indiana, and Tennessee for the states with the 14th most electoral votes. Massachusetts neither gained nor lost electoral votes following the 2020 census.
Massachusetts’ general election ballot will also feature five ballot measures and elections for the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, and other state executive offices, among others.
