Six presidential tickets will appear on the ballot in Kentucky this November

Kentucky’s Nov. 5, 2024, general election ballot will feature six presidential candidates and their running mates. They are:

Jill Stein is the Green Party’s presidential nominee, but she will appear on Kentucky’s ballot as the Kentucky Party’s presidential nominee. Stein’s running mate is Butch Ware, but she filed to appear on Kentucky’s ballot before selecting Ware, so she will appear on Kentucky’s ballot with Kpadenou instead. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the presidential election in August, but will still appear on Kentucky’s ballot.

There is one more candidate on Kentucky’s presidential ballot compared to 2020, 2012, and 2008, and the same number compared to 2016. In 2020, Kentucky’s ballot had five candidates: Donald Trump (R), Joe Biden (D), Jo Jorgensen (L), Ye (Independent), and one other minor party candidate. Trump won Kentucky that year with 62.1% of the vote, followed by Biden with 36.2%, Jorgensen with 1.2%, and Ye with 0.3%. No other candidate received more than 0.2% of the vote.

As of Oct. 23, The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball all rated the state as solid Republican. In the last 10 presidential elections, the Republican candidate won Kentucky eight times and the Democratic candidate won the state two times.

Kentucky has eight electoral votes, tied with Louisiana and Oregon for the state with the 25th most electoral votes. Kentucky neither gained nor lost electoral votes following the 2020 census.

Kentucky’s general election ballot will also feature two ballot measures, and elections for the U.S. House of Representatives, the Kentucky State Senate, and the Kentucky House of Representatives, among others.
