Elections for all 80 seats in the California State Assembly will take place on Nov. 8, 2022.

This article details the five most expensive contested general elections in the State Assembly.

This information comes from candidate reports to the California Secretary of State covering the period of Jan. 1, 2021, through Sept. 24, 2022.

Five general elections with the most fundraising

#1 District 17 – $3,022,023

Incumbent Matt Haney (D) raised $2,006,101 and David Campos (D) raised $1,015,923.

#2 District 40 – $2,892,900

Incumbent Suzette Martinez Valladares (R) raised $1,565,126 and Pilar Schiavo (D) raised $1,327,774.

#3 District 80 – $2,561,999

Incumbent David Alvarez (D) raised $1,549,530 and Georgette Gómez (D) raised $1,012,469.

#4 District 7 – $2,422,460

Incumbent Ken Cooley (D) raised $1,771,066 and Josh Hoover (R) raised $651,394.

#5 District 10 – $2,297,811

Eric Guerra (D) raised $1,709,932 and Stephanie Nguyen (D) raised $587,878.

The data above are based on campaign finance reports that active California PACs submitted to the California Secretary of State. Political expenditures that are not controlled by candidates or their campaigns, known as satellite spending, are not included in candidate totals. Federal PACs are not required to report to state agencies.
