Five presidential tickets will appear on the ballot in Alabama this November

Alabama’s Nov. 5, 2024, general election ballot will feature five presidential candidates and their running mates. They are:

Oliver is the Libertarian Party’s presidential nominee and Stein is the Green Party’s presidential nominee, but both will appear on Alabama’s ballot as independents. Stein’s running mate is Butch Ware, but she filed to appear on Alabama’s ballot before selecting Ware, so she will appear on Alabama’s ballot with Kpadenou instead. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the presidential election in August, but will still appear on Alabama’s ballot.

This is the most candidates on Alabama’s presidential ballot since 2012. In 2020, Alabama’s ballot had three candidates: Trump, Joe Biden (D), and Jo Jorgensen (L). Trump won Alabama that year with 62% of the vote, followed by Biden with 37%, and Jorgensen with 1%.

As of Sept. 26, The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball all rated the state as solid Republican. Republican presidential candidates won all 11 presidential elections in Alabama between 1980 and 2020. In the four most recent elections, the Republican candidate received at least 60 percent of the vote.

Alabama has nine electoral votes, tied with South Carolina for the state with the 23rd most electoral votes. Alabama neither gained nor lost electoral votes following the 2020 census.
