Three presidential tickets will appear on the ballot in Illinois this November

Illinois’ Nov. 5, 2024, general election ballot will feature three presidential candidates and their running mates. They are:

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the presidential election in August, but will still appear on Illinois’ ballot.

This is the fewest candidates on Illinois’ presidential ballot since at least 2008. In 2020, Illinois’ ballot had six candidates: Joe Biden (D), Donald Trump (R), Jo Jorgensen (L), Howie Hawkins (G), and two other minor party candidates.  Biden won Illinois that year with 57.6% of the vote, followed by Trump with 40.6%, Jorgensen with 1.1%, and Hawkins with 0.5%. No other candidate received more than 0.2% of the vote.

As of Oct. 21, The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball all rated the state as solid Democratic. Democratic candidates have won Illinois in each of the last eight presidential elections, although in the six elections prior to that streak the Republican candidate won each year.

Illinois has 19 electoral votes, tied with Pennsylvania for the state with the 5th most electoral votes. Illinois lost one electoral vote following the 2020 census.

Illinois’s general election ballot will also feature three ballot measures, and elections for the U.S. House of Representatives, the Illinois State Senate, and the Illinois House of Representatives, among others.
