Kansas’s Nov. 5, 2024, general election ballot will feature four presidential candidates and their running mates. They are:
- Kamala Harris / Tim Walz (D)
- Donald Trump / J.D. Vance (R)
- Chase Oliver / Mike ter Maat (L)
- Robert F. Kennedy Jr. / Nicole Shanahan (Independent)
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the presidential election in August, but will still appear on Kansas’ ballot.
This cycle, there are the same number of candidates on Kansas’ presidential ballot as in three of the five presidential elections held since 2008. In 2020, Kansas’s ballot had three candidates: Donald Trump (R), Joe Biden (D), and Jo Jorgensen (L). Trump won Kansas that year with 56.2% of the vote, followed by Biden with 41.6%, and Jorgensen with 2.2%.
As of oct. 22, The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball all rated the state as solid Republican. In the 16 presidential elections since 1960, the Republican candidate has won Kansas 15 times and the Democratic candidate has won the state once.
Kansas has six electoral votes, tied with five other states for the 30th most. Following the 2020 census, Kansas neither gained nor lost electoral votes.
Kansas’s general election ballot will also feature elections for the U.S. House of Representatives, other state executive offices, the Kansas State Senate, and the Kansas House of Representatives, among others.
