Nine presidential tickets will appear on the ballot in Idaho this November

Idaho’s Nov. 5, 2024, general election ballot will feature nine presidential candidates and their running mates. They are:

Claudia De La Cruz is the Party for Socialism and Liberation’s presidential nominee, Jill Stein is the Green Party’s presidential nominee, and Randall Terry is the Constitution Party’s presidential nominee, but all three will appear on Idaho’s ballot as independents. Stein’s running mate is Butch Ware, but she filed to appear on Idaho’s ballot before selecting Ware, so she will appear on Idaho’s ballot with Kpadenou instead. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the presidential election in August, but will still appear on Idaho’s ballot.

This is the most candidates on Idaho’s presidential ballot since at least 2008. In 2020, Idaho’s ballot had seven candidates: Donald Trump (R), Joe Biden (D), Jo Jorgensen (L), Ye (Independent), and three other minor party candidates.  Trump won Idaho that year with 63.8% of the vote, followed by Biden with 33.1%, Jorgensen with 1.9%, and Ye with 0.4%. No other candidate received more than 0.3% of the vote.

As of Oct. 21, The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball all rated the state as solid Republican. The Republican candidate has won Idaho in every presidential election since 1968.

Idaho has four electoral votes, tied with six other states for the 2nd fewest electoral votes. Idaho neither gained nor lost electoral votes following the 2020 census.

Idaho’s general election ballot will also feature two ballot measures, elections for the U.S. House of Representatives, the Idaho State Senate, and the Idaho House of Representatives, among others.
